2 Parts -

  1. Central Nervous System - Spinal Cord & Brain
  2. Peripheral Nervous System - All nerves

Electrical impulses pass along neurons to relay information

Bundle of neurons → Nerve

Types Of Neurons -

Sensory Neurons - Receptor → CNS

Relay Neurons → Inside CNS, Sensory Neurons → Motor Neurons

Motor Neuron - relay neuron in CNS → Effector

Structure Of Neurons -

Axon - Long fiber [Less time wasted transferring impulse from cell to cell]

Nodes - Uninsulated sections → Electrical impulse jumps from node to node

Dendrites - Extensions → Allow connections to other neurons for impulse sending and receiving

Untitled

Sensory - Long, Cell body branching off middle of axon

Relay - Short, small cell body at one end
